Egyptian streaming platform WATCH IT decided to start the year off strong, releasing a new groundbreaking original series on the third day of the year. Ghada Adel and Taha Desouky’s in Hala Khasa (Special Case): Everything You Need To Know About The New Egyptian Series
Hala Khasa (translating to Special Case) is set to tell the story of an autistic lawyer, Nadim, as he tries to join a law firm led by one of the best lawyers in the city, Amani El Nagar, and prove he has what it takes to succeed in a society that often misunderstands him.
Comedian-turned-actor Taha Desouky plays the main character, and reviews are already calling his performance masterful and accurate. The show triumphs at its goal of bringing diversity to the stories told and characters portrayed in the industry, as Desoukry brings the character to life without exaggeration, highlighting the struggles autistic individuals face in Egypt, from limited opportunities to bullying.

It is clear that the team behind the show also worked hard to ensure that an authentic representation is the final product, educating watchers rather than adding to the harmful stereotypes.
Nashwa Gad, managing director and CEO of WATCH IT revealed that Nadim is not only a real person, but also a member of the streaming platform’s team named Abdullah Ashraf. Ashraf would work with Desouky throughout the project to guarantee an accurate portrayal.
At the series premiere actress Ghada Adel also spoke out about how the cast and crew spent time with autistic youth and children to better understand all aspects and perspectives of autism.
Aside from its freshness, the series has also made headlines for the fast-paced, attention-grabbing suspense it creates as audiences try to solve the cases alongside the characters and the cast’s performances, including that of the emerging actors taking on big roles.

Hala Khasa is produced by Tarek El Ganainy and directed by Abdelaziz El Nagar. The series, written by Mohab Tarek, has begun its release, with two episodes scheduled per week.
