Warner Bros. shares the first images of Ryan Gosling as Barbie’s leading man
With the announcement of Greta Gerwig’s live-action Barbie taking over social media when Margot Robbie confirmed that she would be taking on the role of the iconic, multi-faceted fashion doll our younger selves wished to be with an Instagram post in character, we couldn’t help but wonder who would bring Ken to life.
From his signature blonde hair, Californian tan and impressive abs, Ken has always been easy on the eyes so the divisive responses online came as surprise when Warner Bros. unexpectedly shared an image of Ryan Gosling in character as a shirtless Ken with platinum blonde hair and in a sleeveless denim vest.
While there is still a lot that is being kept under wraps, we are excited to see how Margot and Ryan will portray the dolls of our childhood alongside a star-studded cast, which includes Will Ferrell, Emma Mackey and Marvel’s Simu Liu to name a few. According to Warner Bros. Instagram captions, Barbie will be in theatres on July 21, 2023.
