Nancy Ajram Will Make Her Acting Debut In A New Film With Amr Diab
After a twenty year career in the music industry the 41-year-old songstress is making the jump to the silver screen
Is there anything Nancy Ajram can’t do? The award-winning Lebanese singer and Harper’s Bazaar Saudi cover star – who is often referred to as the Queen of Arab Pop – will soon try her hand at acting, starring in a film alongside Egyptian performer Amr Diab.
News was shared last month on Facebook by Turki Alalshikh, the Chairman of Saudi’s General Entertainment Authority (GEA), that Nancy will take part in a new KSA-based feature. The release date has yet to be announced and few details have been shared about the project, but some suspected the announcement may be connected to another film Nancy was set to act that never came to fruition.
Earlier this year Turki revealed the Sah Sah singer would be starring on screen in a film titled Cairo Job with Egyptian actor Karim Abdel Aziz; however, no further details were shared about the production in the coming weeks, leading fans to speculated that maybe Amr is stepping in to play the role Karim was originally cast in.
Turki was recently at the Riyadh premiere of the third instalment of the regional fan-favourite franchise Welad Rizk 3: El Qadya – one of the highest-grossing Arab films of the year – with Amr Diab. The pair were photographed together at the event.
Emphasising his optimism about this upcoming film and sharing his high hopes to revive the memories and legacy of old Arab cinema, Turki referenced iconic movie stars like Shadia, Sabah, Abdel Halim Hafez, and Farid Al-Atrash in his post, noting there will be a surprise in the film involving fashion designer Elie Saab.
Perhaps the famed Lebanese couturier will be dressing her in the film? The pair have had a long-standing relationship and Nancy often appears on stage in decadent creations designed by the house, but only time will tell.
