Netflix’s Newest Film Series “Because She Created” Is A Tribute To Female Arab Storytelling

The series aims to amplify female Arab filmmakers’ voices on a global level

In an attempt to inspire and showcase the outstanding contribution of female filmmakers to the Arab world, Netflix is launching a collection of films made exclusively by Arab women on July 7. The series, Because She Created, will feature critically acclaimed documentaries, romance and drama films that are an authentic representation of the Arab spirit and creativity, which are helmed by women all over the region – Morocco, Algeria, Jordan, Syria and more.

The ground-breaking venture was born after the success of Netflix’s Because She Created virtual panel discussion, where female Arab filmmakers spoke candidly about cultural storytelling and the impact and role it had in the industry.

Nuha el Tayeb, Director Content Acquisitions, Netflix (MENA and Turkey) says,We’re proud to be telling more stories by Arab filmmakers that can resonate with women from all walks of life and from around the world. Together, their voices provide inspiration for the wider creative community, while highlighting the importance of equitable representation in storytelling, and why it matters.”
