This year, it has been a tough competition, as streaming platforms like Shahid, Netflix, and more, are giving us plenty of choices to choose from. Don’t worry though, we are here to recommend what we think you would enjoy the most during this Holy Month. Here, Bazaar Arabia shares 9 Ramadan series and shows we can’t stop watching during this very special time of year (plus three favourites from years past not to be missed.)
9 New Ramadan Series To Watch in 2022
’Til Death 2 (Lil Mawt 2)
’Til Death 2 (Lil Mawt 2) is a sequel to the Lebanese series, ’Til Death (Lil Mawt), which aired back in Ramadan 2021. Directed by Philip Asmar and written by Nadine Jaber, the show stars Lebanese-Australian actress, Daniella Rahme, Maguy Bou Ghosn and Mohammed Al Ahmad, as it tell the story of two best friends, Reem (Daniella) and Sahar (Maguy), who grew up in an orphanage together – and, naturally, the drama that occurs when they cross paths again as adults.

Just Amina (Amina Haff)
Currently ranking Number Three in the United Arab Emirates, Amina Haff is a two-season series about main character Amina, a woman leading a simple life until she finds her husband’s secret stash of money and decides to spend it all. Written by Ali Dohan and, and Duaij Al Khaleefa Al Subahand starring actors Elham Al Fadalah, and Shehab Johar, the Kuwaiti drama-comedy is taking viewers on a wild ride – and certainly isn’t a Ramadan show to be missed.

The Returnees (Al-Aaedoun)
Shot in Jordan and Bulgaria, the Egyptian series The Returnees (Al Aaedoun), directed by Ahmed Nader Galal, tells the tale of protagonist Omar, who returns home safely after a dangerous work trip abroad, only to uncover new information about a terrorist organisation that puts his life in danger. The show is also inspired by real events that occurred from 2018 to 2020, and stars the likes of Amina Khalil, and Mahmoud Abdel Moghny.

Min Share’ Al Haram Ela…
Currently the number one show on Shahid in the UAE, this Kuwaiti drama series “Min Share’ Al Haram Ela…” tells the story of a cunning belly dancer who is hired to perform at a wedding and, throughout the course of the evening, finds out she is unable to return home. She takes up residence with the groom’s family, attempting to take control of the home with cunning tricks and blackmail, as she tries to alter the group the dynamics between the family members. Starring Huda Hussain, Khaled Al Buraiki, and a long list of excellent actors, this Ramadan series certainly isn’t one to skip.

Breaking Bones (Kasr Aadm)
A Ramadan series that will surely keep you on your toes this Syrian thriller – which stars the likes of Caresse Bashar, Fayez Kazak, and other excellent regional actors – follows the story of Al Hakam, a powerful smuggler who takes advantage of corrupt law enforcement. The plot twist? His son, Rayan, is a police officer, working to crack down on corruptions and criminals.

Rageen Ya Hawa
After going bankrupt in Europe, main character Baleegh (played by Khaled El Nabawy) comes back to his hometown to claim his inheritance; slowly, his efforts shift from his trust fund to fixing his broken family. Directed by Mohamad Salama and written by Osama Anwar Okasha, and Mohamed Soliman Abdul Malek, “Rageen Ya Hawa” is a very heart-warming show and certainly isn’t one to skip.

Natihat Sahab
Natihat Sahab is a Kuwaiti drama show that follows the ambitious businesswoman Amira, who lives by the motto “it’s never too late.” Taking risks when it comes to finding the next big success, she tries to do “the impossible” by nurturing talented people and investing in projects. As the plot progresses, she meets Rafid, a car drifter, and decides to help his talent grow. Written by Nouf Al Mudaf, and Hammoud El Beghelly, this show stars the famous Souad Abdullah, Yacoub Abdullah, and many other notable actors.

The Choice 3 (Al Ikhtiyar 3)
This three-part action-drama series – which follows a new story each season – is based on 96 of the most dangerous hours in Egyptian history. It stars Karim Abdel Aziz, Ahmad Ezz, and Ahmad Elsaka as it follows the lives of three employees working across different sectors in the military, during a period of political unrest in 2013. Renowned for shedding light on real-life heroes and its accurate depiction of battle scenes, this series continues to be a Ramadan must-watch.

Shadow (Thill)
This Lebanese-Syrian Ramadan series is about a lawyer who commits plagiarism by publishing a dead man’s book, a story of a murder – which turns out to not be a work of fiction at all. Starring Abdel Moneim Amiry, Jessy Abdo, and other notable actors, the series is sure to keep you glued to your screen this Ramadan.

Salon Zahra
Nadine Nassib Njeim stars alongside Moatasem Alnahar in Salon Zahra. This Lebanese-Syrian show shares the story of Zahra, a beautician that owns a beauty parlour, which serves as a hideaway for the women of the town to pamper themselves, and seek refuge from society’s critical eye. Throughout the course of the series, a (somewhat clumsy) situation connects Zahra to a young man, as they get entangled in each other’s paths and hearts.

Newton’s Cradle (Le’ebet Newton)
Newton’s Cradle (Le’ebet Newton) has been nothing short of impressive. This Egyptian show has a smashing 8.1 review on IMDB, and influenced many topics to be discussed in the Arab world. The show follows Harper’s Bazaar Arabia’s former cover star, Mona Zaki, in the role of Hana, as she and her husband take a miscalculated decision to have their newborn in the USA for American citizenship, and suffer the consequences of their choice… There is no doubt, that this show was one of the best that aired in the year of 2021.

Tango
Similar to the name, Tango follows a passionate dance between two couples. A car accident exposes things no one expected to get exposed, friends separated by destiny, and who is hiding behind their deep dark secrets that are slowly being revealed? Starring Bassel Khayyat and Daniella Rahme, Tango got a lot of success when it aired in 2018 and is a Ramadan series we will be rewatching this year.
