Taylor Swift Is Cinderella In her new music video. From the cast to the costumes, Bazaar Arabia shares a closer look at the eye candy that is “Bejeweled,” brought to visual life by the award-winning recording artist herself.
There’s nothing we love more than a modern twist on a classic fairy tale – and now Taylor Swift has put her own spin on the beloved story of Cinderella in her latest music video.
Written and directed by the award-winning singer-songwriter herself, “Bejeweled” see Taylor step into the role of Cinders; the music video opens to a scene of our blonde heroine scrubbing the floor while her evil stepmother – played by Laura Dern – and stepsisters, portrayed by Haim, gloat while discussing their prospects at winning over the Prince’s heart (which also involves entering a talent contest of some sorts.)
Celebrity appearances in the video also include burlesque star Dita Von Teese (and her famous man-sized martini glass act) and American singer Jack Antonoff, in the role of Prince Charming.
As always, Taylor’s fashion choices steal the spotlight throughout the video; she can be seen wearing period-inspired costumes, cabaret wear and full-on modern-day glamour throughout various scenes in the video.
Having garnered 2.1 million views on YouTube in the first three hours since it premiered (at the time of writing), the video is well on its way to going viral across various social media platforms.
Naturally, Swifties took to the comments to share their excitement, commenting on her storytelling abilities and attention to detail (“Minute 4:29 the colors are all the albums Taylor has released in order, even the re-recordings and midnights itself, and the clock hand point on purple, the song in the background at the beginning of the video is enchanted, and at the end is long live, speak now Taylor’s version is next!” writes Sofia Benedetto in the comments.)
