Everything You Need To Know About Bridgerton Season 2 (Because We Can’t Wait Either…)

Get ready for another season of regency romance and gossip…

If you’re anything like team Bazaar, your post-holiday conversations have probably been abuzz with Bridgerton banter. Debutante balls, duels at sunrise, heaving bosoms, bedazzling jewels and the Duke. the Netflix series literally ticks every box when you’re seeking steamy regency drama. But that’s not all. Shonda Rhimes’ adaptation of Julia Quinn’s novel The Duke and I, is uniquely original with its racially diverse casting, classical takes on contemporary music and a celebration of female pleasure.

So imagine our delight when Shonda Rhimes dropped the latest issue of Lady Whistledown’s society papers on our digital doorstep, confirming that Bridgerton would be returning for a second season only a few weeks ago…

The doyenne of deception drops us a nugget about season 2 by hinting that “….this author has been reliably informed that Lord Anthony Bridgerton intends to dominate the social season. I will have my pen ready to report on any and all of his romantic activities.”

This follows in line with Quinn’s novels which make up a series following the eight Bridgerton siblings as they navigate their ways through life and love. The second season is most likely to be based on the second Bridgerton novel titled The Viscount Who Loved Me, focusing on Anthony, Viscount Bridgerton.

Last season we saw Anthony heartbroken after his affair with opera singer Siena Rosso came to an abrupt end. In the latest season Anthony’s quest to find the “diamond of the season” who will sire him an heir will lead him into the life of Edwina Sheffield. Due to his less than savoury reputation, Edwina’s sister Kate steps in to end her sisters courtship with a man she believes to be unworthy of her. As she continues with dogged determination to save her sister from the clutches of this unworthy rake, she soon finds herself falling for him. Meanwhile Anthony too is preoccupied by raunchy thoughts of Kate. If Season One is anything to go by, a tempestuous tale, like the one of Daphne and the Duke awaits.

Production of the series’ second season is scheduled to commence in Spring 2021. If no pandemic related unpredictability strikes we may see its release later the very same year.
