Will There Be Another Freaky Friday? Bazaar Arabia shares everything we know about a possible sequel…
Films in the early 2000s will always occupy a place in our hearts. There was something special about them. A serenading soundtrack, captivating storyline, unique characters and actors and then something magical used to make for the perfect 90-120 minutes of entertainment. Fans of these iconic films beware, 2023 might be your year as rumours of a Freaky Friday sequel have been circulating around the news.
What happens when the only thing a constantly fighting mother-daughter-duo has in common are fortune cookies? They switch bodies after having some. In 2003’s Freaky Friday, exactly this happens to Anna (portrayed by Lindsay Lohan) and Tess Coleman (portrayed by Jamie Lee Curtis) and for one long day, the teenager and mother get an insight into the other’s life, its ups and downs, challenges and rewards.
Now, twenty years later after the film’s original release, rumours are, the duo is set to return for what could be an even freakier Friday. In an interview with Variety, Jamie Lee Curtis revealed that “It’s going to happen”.
Apart from that the actress also posted an image of her and co-star Lindsay Lohan on February 10th, with the caption: “It’s Friday. I’m just sayin! Freaky fingers crossed!”
So… Will There Be Another Freaky Friday?
Whilst no officials have confirmed anything just yet, Jamie told Variety: “There is no scheduled date, but we’re talking. People are taking. The right people are talking”, as well as “I’m 64 in a week and Lindsay is 36…[A sequel] lends itself so beautifully, We’re both committed to it, and it’s not ours to make. It’s Disney’s to make and I think they’re interested and we’re talking.”
It seems that until then fans must be patient and eat their fortune cookies hoping, one of them will possibly reveal more information.
Until then, come back here for more on the possible sequel…
