Coronavirus Hits Hollywood: Tom Hanks And Wife Rita Wilson Diagnosed

Coronavirus has just hit two of its most high-profile victims to date: Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson. The Academy Award-winning actor announced the diagnosis to his seven million followed via Instagram earlier this morning.

“Hello, folks,” said Tom. “Rita and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive.”He continued saying, “Well, now. What to do next? The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hanks’ will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no? We’ll keep the world posted and updated. Take care of yourselves! Hanx!”

The news of one of Hollywood’s most beloved couples being diagnosed comes on the heels of the World Health Organization’s declaration of COVID-19 as being a global pandemic. The virus, which was unknown to global health authorities just a few months ago has now infected more than 121,000 people across the world.

"In the past two weeks the number of cases outside China has increased thirteenfold and the number of affected countries has tripled," WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus."We're deeply concerned both by the alarming levels of spread and severity, and by the alarming levels of inaction. We have rung the alarm bell loud and clear."
