Electrical Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) Aircrafts by Archer Aviation are being created to be launched in Abu Dhabi.
Abu Dhabi Investment Offices, along with Archer Aviation, have an agreement to launch air taxis by 2026. Archer Aviation is renowned for its Electrical Vertical Takeoff and Landing Aircrafts (eVTOL). Their collaboration with ADIO marks their first international partnership. According to Khaleej Times, they shall develop headquarters for the aviation company in Abu Dhabi’s recently launched, Smart and Autonomous Vehicle Industry (SAVI).
Archer shall work with local Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul providers as well as local manufacturing companies in Abu Dhabi to aid the development of the eVTOL aircraft, as described on their website.
The Aviation company has also stated they shall join together with a variety of partners in the UAE to support their plan to have operations commercialized by 2026. They have so far signed memorandum of understanding’s (MOUs) with Falcon Aviation and GAL-AMMROC to support this project as stated on their site.
This new form of transport shall aim to significantly reduce travel times sustainably and not require long charge time between flights, meaning they can make several trips. Another exciting innovation to be launched in the region!
His Excellency Badr Al-Olama, Acting Director General of the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, has said, “We are thrilled to work with Archer to host their first international operations in Abu Dhabi. Bringing electric aviation to the UAE will help unlock congestion with zero emissions and, in turn, bring millions in foreign direct investment and thousands of jobs to the region over the next decade.”
Archer Aviation’s Founder and CEO, Adam Goldstein, said, “We are excited to announce this joint collaboration for the United Arab Emirates to become our first international market outside of the United States. Archer plans to partner closely with ADIO and the Department of Economic Development to bring manufacturing and operations for our air taxis to the region. Together, we are positioned to be a driving force in making all-electric air taxis a reality in the skies of the UAE and beyond in the coming years.”
