Hillary becomes the first woman to win an American presidential nomination for a major political party

American presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton claimed that her success winning the Democratic Party nomination for this year’s presidential election in the US is a “milestone”. During a speech in Brooklyn, she said, “Tonight’s victory is not about one person. it belongs to generations of women and men who struggled and made this moment possible.”

Eight years after failing to crack what she described as the “highest, hardest glass ceiling” in American politics, following her concession to Barack Obama for the Democratic nomination in 2008, Hillary is now set to take on Republican Party candidate Donald Trump in the US presidential elections on November 16, 2016.

Writing on Instagram, Hillary said, ‘Because of you, for the first time in our country’s history, a woman will be a major party’s nominee for President of the United States. Tonight, we can say with pride that no matter who you are, where you come from, what you look like, or yes, what gender you are – in America, there is no barrier too great and no ceiling too high to break.’
