Dubai’s Burj Al Arab Reveals Luxury ‘North Deck’ Concept

The iconic Burj Al Arab Hotel pushes marine design and engineering boundaries with its stunning new outdoor luxury concept ‘North Deck’

No other city in modern history has harnessed the inimitable power of architecture like Dubai. Since it first opened doors in 1999, the sail-like Burj Al Arab Hotel has not only set higher standards of luxury and hospitality, it’s become a symbol of the Emirate’s might, ambition and its unrestrained approach to architecture.

“We are really pushing the boundaries of innovation”

Plans for a new addition, ‘North Deck’, have been revealed this week and with it, the Jumeirah Group is showcasing its talent for architectural design and luxury service yet again. A global first in hotel construction with a breakthrough combination of creative marine design, ingenious engineering and guest-friendly planning, the 10,000 metres squared private luxury deck will fan 100 metres out into the Arabian Gulf and accommodate 32 cabanas, 400 sun loungers, one fresh water pool and one salt water pool, plus restaurant and bar. “We are really pushing the boundaries of innovation and demonstrating how committed we are to positioning Dubai as the most exciting destination in the world” said Robert Swade, Chief Operating Officer of the Jumeirah Group.

The deck has been developed by marine construction experts ADMARES at a shipyard in Finland that specialises in the construction of cruise ships and yachts, guaranteeing the highest standards in both manufacture and finish. The off-site process means minimal disruption to guests and the marine ecosystem. The 5,000 tonnes heavy steel composition left Finland on January 9 and is currently being transported to Dubai by sea… With sights set on a mid-February arrival to its new home in Dubai, North Deck is scheduled to extend Burj Al Arab’s luxury living offerings to guests from July 2016. — Pratyush Sarup
