Richard Yasmine Debuts Ashkal Collection at The Sursock Museum

The designer has created the mirrors exclusively for Beirut’s modern and contemporary art museum

Askhal, the latest design project by Lebanese interior architect and product designer Richard Yasmine, fuses contemporary and traditional design aesthetics which Yasmine is distinguished for. The vanity mirrors pay tribute to the Sursock Museum‘s historic stained glass façade from the ’60s.

The designer has created the collection to be sold exclusively at the Sursock Museum store. On what sets Ashkal apart from previous projects, Yasmine says, “Each design I create must be unique with a different concept, mood and message. Each piece is related to the museum, exporting a person to the Sixties when the Sursock Museum first opened its doors.” He adds,

“The small geometric shapes are simple, light and thin. Hence more accessible to the larger public”

Derived from the Arabic word for shapes, Askhal is a collection of mirrors created in a series of geometric designs from a circle, square and rectangle to oval, pentagon and triangle – finished with mirrored stainless steel on gold brushed brass. The elements of marble, brass and metal at the base create a distinctive contrast to mirror’s reflective surfaces, evoking both the modern and nostalgic elements Yasmine’s designs are renowned for.

The ‘Askhal’ collection is sold at The Sursock Museum store in Beirut, Lebanon. Prices are available upon request.
