How Gaggenau Continues to Inspire Interior Design Excellence
Meet the luxury German kitchen appliance brand that’s inspiring architects and interior designers through world-class collaborations with some of the industry’s biggest tastemakers
Thank the climate crisis, but in today’s world, we’re seeing a resurgence in appreciation of high-quality, low- volume makers in everything from fashion to interiors. Not only do these pieces look great, they promise to last longer than impulse purchases, too. Thankfully renowned luxury brand Gaggenau has been championing exceptionally crafted kitchen appliances ever since its inception in 1683, and now it is going one step further by actively working to inspire architects and interior designers through a spectrum of events designed to drive meaningful dialogue about establishing an impactful interior design brand.
Held earlier this summer, we saw CEO of BSH Middle East Tomas Alonso, globally-acclaimed interior designer Karin Bohn and chef David Pang, who heads up popular Dubai restaurant Tan-Cha, come together to host an unforgettable art-infused experience at the Theatre of Digital Arts Dubai dubbed Limitless Imagination: An Evening with Gaggenau. The event not only reinstated the German brand as the first-choice luxury appliance brand that these architects and interior designers use to elevate their creations to perfectly balance aesthetics and function, but inspired each and every attendee through keynote speeches that bestowed the power of personal branding upon a rapt audience.

Alonso ignited the evenings festivities, reinforcing Gaggenau’s commitment to building collaborative relationships with designers and artists. For Alonso, the night was more than just an opportunity to deliver home appliances or products, it was an opportunity to deliver dreams.
Steering the conversation was Bohn who, having known she wanted to be an interior designer since the age of five, impressed on the audience three key takeaways for success: trust, market differentiation and embracing the discomfort of being different. “For me, design is all about connecting people with spaces and creating environments that bring people together,” she says. She launched her design studio, House of Bohn, straight after graduation, thanking the power of social media in helping expose her talents to a global audience. “Showing up on social media and being really candid, honest and authentic about your practice and what you’re doing is imperative to building a really loyal fanbase, and that’s how you build your brand,” she explains.

This transparent approach proved a success for Bohn, who garnered a loyal following of over 13 million viewers on her YouTube channel, and even went on to land her a deal with Netflix to host her show, Restaurants on the Edge. Travelling the world with two co-hosts to revive and revamp restaurants by connecting them to the local culture beyond their gorgeous views, it quickly became a hit. “The interesting thing I learned is that really, no matter where you are in the world, we really are the same. People all want to come together and build their dream. People want to provide for their families and build community, and that’s what we were doing with these restaurants. So it was an incredible experience.”
Of course, no evening is complete without fantastic food, and that’s where chef Pang came in. Alongside Tan-Cha’s GM Mark Eggberry, the award-winning culinary wizard put on an exquisite show entwining art, food and immersive storytelling to create an omni-spinach dumpling crafted with blue flour in homage to the blue interiors of the Gaggenau oven. We can’t wait to see what they come up with next.
