Ideal Standard Unveils New Bathroom Design

Over the last century, Ideal Standard has carved a niche by providing innovative bathroom solutions to improve the lives of customers worldwide. The company is focused on reinterpreting a classic masterpiece for the modern era, as people adjust to life after the pandemic.

Ideal Standard has been a pioneer of innovation in bathroom design and technology. The company works closely with leading universities, architects, urban designers, and construction companies around the world, to positively shape the future of modern living. Over the years, Ideal Standard has made great strides to develop sustainable solutions while ensuring high quality performance and design. Frederick Trzcinski, Marketing and Innovation Director of MENA region discusses the latest bathroom designs and technologies.

Ideal Standard recently partnered with Palomba Serafini Associati to launch Atelier Collections. Over the past 25 years, Palomba Serafini Associati have been trendsetters in bathroom design, collaborated with various international brands like Kartell and Samsung, won several prestigious awards including the Compasso D’Oro. The latest collaboration is a reinterpretation of classic masterpieces with modern aesthetics and functionality.  For instance, the Conca basin collection which was originally designed in 1972 by Paolo Tilche was revamped with a minimalistic square design to align with contemporary trends, while retaining its sophisticated character. The collection is marked by its purity and simplicity.

Internationally renowned designers and architects, Ludovica + Roberto Palomba introduced a stylish new colour palette for the ceramics and mixers from the Atelier Collections. Some ceramics are black gloss, kashmir, sage or pomegranate while the mixers portfolio are brushed gold, silver storm and magnetic grey.

Furthermore, Chief Design Officer and architect Roberto Palomba featured as a key speaker joining other industry experts in virtual talks during Dubai Design Week 2020. The panel examined how innovation and creative collaboration can offer tradition and heritage a voice on the contemporary design stage.

Water consumption is a central part of the company’s core values and influences all their product designs. Ideal Standard invented the ceramic disk cartridge which ended dripping taps and eventually became the industry standard. Following that innovation, the company developed Firmaflow®, a robust and durable cartridge that lasts twice as long as industry standards. The company also created AquaBlade® advanced flush technology, that allows flushing using low levels of water without splashing, resulting in a remarkably clean toilet bowl. Some suites of the Atelier Collections such as Blend Curve integrate the latest hygiene features, including AquaBlade®, making them an excellent choice for residential, commercial and healthcare projects.

Click Technology features adjustable water saving functions without compromising the water volume, leading to nearly 50% savings. There are several ranges of mixers and taps with this clever feature that offer maximum of 5lt/min flow rate. Finally, Ideal Standard has enhanced its flush plate, inclusive of a wide variety of designs with electronic actuation. Designed by Ludovica + Roberto Palomba, these new flush plates feature the latest no-touch technology making the flush plates easy to use and ultra-hygienic.

To minimize the risks posed by hospital acquired infections (HAIs) and prevent the spread of germs, Ideal Standard constructed products like the Contour 21+basin, which reduces splashing by over 90%. The Markwik 21+ mixers are designed with antimicrobial copper components and are hands-free operated which prevent the growth of harmful bacteria due to stagnant water.

Ideal Standard will continue re-connecting to its roots of design and expertise, to create next generation solutions that satisfy all their consumer’s needs. The company collaborated with several technology companies to develop INTELLIMIX®. It is a unique smart-mixer touch-free tap which provides soap and water together in a hand washing cycle. The new technology was designed to overcome numerous pain points for building owners and washroom users. Mobile-enabled SPHERO™ anti-splash urinal provides ultimate convenience to both users and operators. To improve user hygiene following the COVID-19 pandemic, public bathrooms will be built or renovated with products that are splash-free and touch-free. These new products will be launched in 2021.
