Interiors Expert Dina Dahmash Shares Her Top 5 Design Picks
Dina Dahmash, founder of her eponymous interiors studio, talks about heritage, inspiration and being guided by passion, meaning and purpose
I draw inspiration from the world around me; its raw natural beauty, the untold stories of people and the intricate details of history and architecture. Travelling has shaped my creative vision, from the vibrant streets of Havana to the sacred landscapes of Palestine, and the rich, vivid colours of India.
At this point in my life, I am driven to design with meaning and purpose. Between London and Dubai, I find constant inspiration in their contrasts – old and new, tradition and innovation. I seek to merge my love for storytelling, photography and art with my design practice. Palestine has always been at the heart of my life and work, shaping my perspective in profound ways. I am committed to honouring my roots by integrating its story into my creative endeavours, including a recent initiative I launched in the UAE, Bint Al Yasmine, a platform dedicated to reviving and celebrating Palestinian history and culture.
I am most proud of my ability to infuse my Palestinian heritage into my work and creative expression. Whether through design, art or photography, I strive to tell stories that are too often overlooked. Travel has also taught me to find beauty in the everyday. And I’m proud of my personal journey as a designer, of never settling, always seeking, staying true to my authentic self and allowing my passions to guide me.
I love to travel to places that have soul, where history, culture and authenticity are embedded in the streets, the people and the landscapes. Whether it is wandering through the holy streets of Jerusalem, losing myself in the rhythms of Cuba, or the vibrant markets of India, I seek destinations that fuel my creativity.
Design is an important part of my life because it is the language through which I express myself. It allows me to communicate my thoughts, emotions and experiences in an authentic way. From designing a home to capturing a moment through my camera, my work is a personal reflection of who I am and how I see the world.
