Walk-In Wonder: Inside Juliana Mizon’s Opulent Dubai Hills Home

If you’re partial to a bit of walk-in wardrobe envy then we suggest you pay attention, for Juliana Mizon’s is undoubtedly the fairest of them all…

As an ex-model who has spent her life and career traversing the globe, it comes as no surprise that Juliana Mizon takes her wardrobe seriously. We meet her inside her latest project at her Dubai Hills home, a sprawling yet calming space complete with custom cabinetry, magical lighting, luxe marble flooring, and plenty of gold detailing that could easily be confused with a Saint Laurent flagship boutique.

“I managed the entire design myself, and then our house developer executed it all,” Juliana tells us. “We opted for a white and calming palette with everything in order and tucked away — my OCD couldn’t handle an explosion of colours every day.”

This is the second time Juliana has designed a wardrobe from scratch — the first was at her lavish Surrey home in the UK, where she was living with her family before they relocated to Dubai two years ago — and just as it was then, the stylish space was completely customised to meet her needs.

Juliana’s favourite pieces take pride of place in her wardrobe

“It was important to have lots of open shelves for all my shoes and handbags, which must be on display,” says Juliana. “I like to have easy access to my accessories, it feels like I’m in a shop.” Then there’s an entire wall of mirrors and plenty of good lighting for hair and makeup, plus a space to display fresh flowers which are delivered on rotation. “Flowers make me happy,” she adds. “My dear friend Tony Marklew is the best flower engineer on the planet, and knows how colours and smells can create different moods in the same space.”

Juliana’s wardrobe is filled with colour.

From Givenchy and Dina Melwani to Lily & Bean and Popski, the latter two for which Juliana is an ambassador, the Colombian-American beauty prides herself on her collection of both local and international designers. Yet nothing makes her quite so happy as her wedding dress — one of three — carefully stored away inside.

You can’t beat a monogrammed hair brush.

“It’s a Galia Lahav by Sharon Sever and it’s my most treasured piece of clothing,” she enthuses. “Sharon was my ‘mate of honour’ and he truly went all out for me. I still love it to this day.”

To highlight the wardrobe’s best feature is no easy task, but Juliana is quick to point out the beautiful high ceilings: “The wardrobe is 4.2 metres tall so I need a ladder to reach the top shelves,” she says. “Then of course I have a small drinks cooler in case the girls come over, or simply if mamma gets thirsty!” Carrie Bradshaw would most certainly approve.

Dubai Days

From her exercise routine to her favourite hangouts, here’s how Juliana spends her days in the city…

Harper’s Bazaar Interiors (HBI): Where do you like to go out in Dubai?

Juliana Mizon (JM): Usually by the sea — we are very lucky to live where we do. I like SAL for sunset food and drinks, Nobu by the beach, LPM, and Caviar Kaspia in DIFC for beautiful food.

HBI: Are you a morning person or night owl?

JM: Definitely a morning person. Give me a cup of coffee and I’ll be in full battery mode no matter how early in the morning it is.

HBI: Do you exercise every day?

JM: I do, it’s great for mental and physical health. I try to walk 25,000 steps in a day — I do the Burj to Burj weekly walk with my health coach Minna, and I also train at the gym three times a week with some Pilates thrown in too.

HBI: What do you do in your downtime?

JM: Shop online or sleep!

HBI: Where will you be spending the summer?

Ibiza and Marbella.

HBI: Can you tell us about any current projects?

JM: I’m just working really hard to modify, decorate and finish our new Dubai Hills home.
