Enter a world of unparalleled style as Kage, the UAE-based fashion and homeware label, unveils its new physical storefront in Al Quoz at one of Dubai’s most vibrant art hubs, Al Khayat Avenue. With its neo-brutalist aesthetics and “unKaged” flair, the brand’s chic 200 square meter studio, designed by the creative minds at C’est ici Design, promises an experience that redefines the essence of laid-back luxury.
Since its inception in 2009, Kage has charmed fashion enthusiasts with its fusion of androgyny and easy-to-wear silhouettes. Designed for the daring girl next door and the woman who forges her path, the label’s contemporary ready-to-wear showcases a playful interplay of colour, proportion, and print. So, when it came time to create their new boutique, Basma Abu Ghazaleh, the brand’s founder and designer, sought a design partner who shared the brand’s minimalistic sensibilities and appreciation for craftsmanship. Dubai-based interior design firm C’est ici, with its Japandi house style that blends Scandinavian and modern Japanese aesthetics, proved to be the perfect match for the brand’s playful and laid-back ethos.
As you step into the newly transformed warehouse in Al Quoz, you’ll witness an enchanting marriage of industrial features with contemporary materials, colours, and textures. The boutique effortlessly embodies the essence of the label’s philosophy—a celebration of fashion without pretence. The open-plan layout, sleek storage and display shelves, and honest use of raw materials exude functionality, simplicity, and industrial elegance. There are no facades or disguises here—every element is true to its essence.
The warehouse walls showcase a carefully curated palette, accentuating the double volume of the space and visually distinguishing the shop floor from the studio on the mezzanine level. There are also exposed I-beams, a sleek metal staircase, and polished concrete floors, which effortlessly blend with wooden shelves, plush seating, and delicate decorative pieces.
As you navigate the boutique, you’ll notice a series of sleek metal racks and wall-mounted bars which showcase the label’s latest collection, meticulously organized with an eye for style and colour. Adorned with wooden frames, a thoughtfully designed shelving unit displays exquisite jewellery and one-of-a-kind home decor pieces.
Meanwhile, tabletops are adorned with ceramic treasures—handmade candle holders, mini vases, and dessert holders—that add an artisanal touch to the ambience. When you’ve shopped to your heart’s content, there’s also a cosy lounge area to rest at.
