No Grand Gestures: Emirati Entrepreneur Mouza Alabbar On The Small Actions That Make The Biggest Difference
Mouza Alabbar opens up about nurturing homegrown brands, the resilience of women in the Middle East, and the ladder to success
Mouza Alabbar is no stranger to success. She is the fearless force behind UAE-based retail and lifestyle powerhouse Alabbar Enterprises, and has been driving the company for the past 12 years. Here, the leading businesswoman demonstrates the power of persistence, and the lessons she has pocketed along her journey – lessons we can all learn from.
You are a true inspiration to female entrepreneurs around the world. What is your secret to success?
Success is a journey of continuous growth, built on daily habits and commitment. For me, consistency has been the cornerstone of my achievements. I’ve learned that success isn’t about grand gestures, but rather the accumulation of small, purposeful actions taken day after day. Surrounding myself with a strong, diverse team has been crucial – they challenge me, complement my skills, and help turn visions into reality. Equally important is having a robust support system to provide perspective and encouragement during challenging times.
Above all, I’ve found that authenticity is non-negotiable. In a world of constant change, staying true to your values and communicating genuinely – whether with your team or when launching a new brand – builds trust and fosters lasting relationships. This authenticity has been the bedrock of my entrepreneurial journey.

What advice would you give women starting out in the workforce in the Middle East?
The landscape for women in the Middle East is evolving rapidly, presenting unprecedented opportunities. My advice is to embrace these opportunities fearlessly. As women, we possess innate strengths – resilience, empathy, and multitasking abilities – that are increasingly valued in the modern workplace.
Cultivate these strengths while continuously expanding your skillset. Remember that your unique perspective is an asset. While challenges may arise, view them as opportunities for growth rather than obstacles. Stay committed to your goals, be willing to adapt, and never underestimate the power of perseverance.

What is the main mission that brands under Alabbar Enterprises’ umbrella share?

What is your favourite design quote?
“Timeless design is not about following trends, but about creating spaces that resonate with who we are and how we live.”
What do you think characterises timeless design?
I believe design is deeply personal. If your space reflects your unique taste, then that’s what makes it timeless for you. Timeless design stays relevant because it’s both beautiful and built to last.
The interior design market in Dubai is quite competitive. What do you think contributes to Ethan Allen’s growing success?
Ethan Allen is a heritage brand that established its presence in the interior design market long before it became as competitive as it is today. The craftsmanship of Ethan Allen furniture, alongside the assurance that you’re investing in a piece that will last a lifetime, is fundamental to the trust and success the brand has achieved. Additionally, Our Ethan Allen team in Dubai is constantly striving to elevate the brand with the latest technology and design trends. Currently, our newly renovated flagship store on Sheikh Zayed Road and our newly opened store in Dubai Hills Mall are the first two locations in the region to implement the new store design concept introduced by the brand.
You’ve previously spoken about the work ethic your father, Mohamed Alabbar, has instilled in you. What is the greatest lesson you have taken away from his teachings?
We’re always learning, and no matter how much success we achieve, it’s important to stay humble.
What are Alabbar Enterprises’ core values?
Passion, integrity, quality, and a sense of community.
Ethan Allen is committed to creating spaces that are beautiful and functional. What is your top tip for designing a home that is both?
My top tip is to prioritise a balanced layout. Start by defining the flow of your space; consider how you and your family move through each area. Choose a cohesive colour palette and materials that reflect your style while ensuring durability. Finally, don’t forget to incorporate ample natural light and personal touches that make the space feel like home. This approach creates an inviting atmosphere that works well for daily living while still looking great!
What can we expect in the future from Alabbar Enterprises?
