What To Expect From The Upcoming Edition Of Maison&Objet Paris

The design fair’s 2021 edit will be complemented by a Digital Days initiative, shedding light on the melting pot of innovative design throughout the year

Coinciding with Paris Design Week, the upcoming edition of Maison&Objet Paris is set to offer a revamped experience using digital tools honed by the preceding events organised by MOM (Maison&Objet and More) online. Eight thematic ‘Digital Days’ will be held every week from 27 January until 19 March 2021, kicking off with the Unexpected Gift theme, showcasing a selection of fashionable objects for the home. Each week will see a brand-new topic, bringing to light a major aspect of the home and decoration market to prompt exchange and dialogue between designers and brands.

Other themes include So French, featuring beautiful items that spotlight French craftsmanship; Premium Design, a compilation of the finest names in the décor world; Sustainable, eco-friendly design contributing to the planet’s health; Trendy Deco, an eclectic showcase of creative accessories, accent furniture, soft textiles, decorative lighting and alluring scents; Well at Work, an exploration of wellbeing in the office; Craft, Métiers D’art, traditional and contemporary items by artists and craft workers; and Outdoor Living, sophisticated interior design that extends out to balconies, terraces and gardens.

“We have learned that it is not just about access but about user experience and making it easy to navigate,” says Philippe Brocart, Managing Director of Maison&Objet. “As in the physical shows, where there are maps and directions and aides to help you through the labyrinth, the digital experience needs direction too.”

The Digital Days will be accompanied by interactive talks by key names including François Delclaux, Vincent Grégoire and Patricia Beausoleil, outlining new collections, trend analysis, exclusive new product selections and tours of innovative concepts.

Gathering design houses, respected designers and international buyers through two yearly fairs, for over two decades Maison&Objet has served to unite the international design, home décor and lifestyle communities.

Highlighting upcoming trends that drive the world of décor, each edition reveals emerging talent to stimulate growth of companies and designers. Participating designers include Libeco Home, Studio Rosaroom, Le Jacquard Français, Artisan, La Chaise Française , Serge Mouille Edition, Lignes de Demarcation, Brooklyn Candle Studio and more.

MOM continues the conversations online year-round, sharing top news on the latest design trends. “We also added a feature that would enhance the social aspect, the connection between guest and brand,” says Philippe. “A new live chat has been created so questions can be asked and conversations could be started directly, eliminating any barrier between the two.” The live chat feature is available exclusively during the Digital Days.

Initially scheduled for March 2021, the physical fair was postponed following persistence of the Covid-19 pandemic. This September, Maison&Objet will highlight the Work! And Projects sectors – the former a display of innovations for workspaces, which have seen a major design shift over the past year and the latter an exclusive offer of materials and creative solutions for optimising hospitality, commercial and residential living spaces.

The eight thematic Digital Days will be held every week from 27 January to 19 March 2021, every Wednesday through Friday, while the upcoming edition of Maison&Objet will take place from 9 to 13 September 2021 in Paris.
