Yes, you did in fact read the title correctly. It almost seems unfathomable that it could snow anywhere in the GCC area, especially for tourists visiting. So, when news came out that Saudi Arabia’s Jabal al-Lawz area was witnessing snowfall, it’s safe to say both residents and tourists of the country were a little confused.
Is It Snowing In Saudi Arabia?
Winter has finally arrived, with parts of Tabuk’s Jabal al-Lawz area witnessing snowfall on Monday night. Interestingly, Arabian Business reports that the Kingdom is planning to transform the popular mountain tourist spot into a ski resort located in the North West of the country.
Although this isn’t the first time that the country has witnessed snow before having seen snow in its previous winters — in January of 2016, residents saw snowfall between Mecca and Medina for the very first time in 85 years.
