A Personal Assistant For Parenthood? Yup, She Exists
From baby-proofing private jets to arranging exclusive antenatal classes with royal babies, Tiffany Norris is the first person the rich and famous call when they’re expecting
“I know which consultant is renowned for doing invisible C-sections and can help them choose the room they want at the best private hospital,” says Tiffany Norris, who’s also known as The Mummy Concierge. Tiffany, who describes herself as a ‘PA for Parenthood’ set up her company eight years ago and hasn’t looked back. Her clients include tech entrepreneurs, footballers, financiers, lawyers and people with inherited wealth, with homes in Chelsea, Mayfair, the Cotswolds and worldwide. She’s even worked with a member of the British Royal Family and several A-List actors. “I’m the only person who does this in the UK and Europe and have clients from all over the world, including the Middle East, Italy, Australia and America.”
Key to Tiffany’s job is being discreet: “I have to be careful. There are clients who want 100 per cent discretion, and I wouldn’t even talk about them to my husband, while there are others who don’t mind. Over the years, I’ve had to sign numerous NDAs.” Many of her overseas clients come to the UK to have their babies at the Portland Hospital because it has secure and private suites with their own lifts. “Clients have asked me to transform their hospital room to make it feel like home, so I make sure the bed has the same Egyptian cotton sheets, I put pictures up on the wall and add their favourite candles and scents.” She’s often asked to arrange a post-birth baby photoshoot too. “They want a beautiful photograph to send around their friends and put on Instagram…
I’ll hook them up with a photographer who has worked on big-name magazines. They turn up with a wardrobe for the mum and baby, a make-up artist and hair stylist etc. Most mums want to do the shoot within a few hours of the baby arriving and, because they’re in a private hospital, they can always buzz the midwife for more painkillers.”
Norris also helps her clients get their homes ready for when they leave hospital. “I regularly sort out nurseries; families often want everything in the nursery monogrammed with the baby’s initials or the family crest. I did one nursery which involved sourcing a bespoke toddler bed that cost upwards of £70,000 (Dhs345,000) from Dragons of Walton Street. It was in the style of a helicopter and had infra-red and leather seats.”
To ensure her clients get exactly what they want, whether it’s an exquisitely handcrafted, bespoke toy or a designer outfit, Tiffany can arrange for some of London’s most exclusive boutiques, including Harrod’s and Harvey Nichols, to be shut down for personal shopping events. Guests are then wined and dined in style while they purchase.
It goes without saying that money is no object, and one Dubai client flew Tiffany out to their home to organise their baby’s wardrobe ahead of a big trip. “They wanted specific brands and things you couldn’t get in Dubai, so I went through the baby’s wardrobe and organised it for the holiday, day by day and event by event.”
Tiffany knows everyone there is to know and has a little black book of high-profile experts, nannies, sleep consultants, doctors and potty trainers. “These are people that have a long waiting list of up to nine months, but I can get you an appointment the next day through the connections I’ve built up.” She can also get access to some of London’s most exclusive private members’ clubs for kids. “Some clubs offer a Steiner art class downstairs for the children while the parents can have colonic irrigation upstairs… I can also organise very exclusive antenatal classes where you can find yourself next to a member of the British Royal family.”
Tiffany regularly flies around the world to babyproof villas, yachts and private planes. “On a yacht, you need to make sure the plug sockets fit the breast pump and that the stair gates are secure and don’t wobble… One of my clients from Abu Dhabi had a private jet and was going away with their little one when they were three months old. I was asked to deck out the private jet with toys for the baby, organise a £1,500 (Dhs7,400) Snoo cot, and stock the fridge with weaning food, so that when they stepped onto the plane, everything was ready to go.” When she’s not jetting round the world, working with high profile clients, Tiffany is busy researching and networking, so she knows she’s giving up-to-date information and suggesting the very best. “It’s a secret world and we work together. Everyone knows who’s who… People trust me and I have access to something exclusive.”
