A Sea Change: SeaWorld Yas Island Abu Dhabi Unveils Its First Ever Art Exhibition by Children

The exhibition illustrates how just one visit can enrich their knowledge and appreciation of our oceans

In an initiative uniting SeaWorld Abu Dhabi, Aldar Education and Louvre Abu Dhabi, to enhance the marine life knowledge of the next generation, a group of children aged seven to 12 were invited to attend SeaWorld Abu Dhabi to complete drawings of the sea before and after their visit. The world’s largest indoor marine life theme park conceived its ‘Draw Me The Sea’ concept to highlight how exploring the park’s eight immersive realms can immediately expand a child’s understanding of our precious waters, and is presenting the results in a charming art exhibition this autumn.

Upon arrival, the children were asked to illustrate the sea, and their drawings depicted the obvious – waves, a beach, and a smattering of palm trees. After their visit, the illustrations delved into intricate marine life ecosystems, showing myriad animals such as dolphins jumping from the water, elegantly gliding mantas, majestic sharks, and shoals of fish. Dr Rama Kanj, a licensed educational psychologist, partnered with SeaWorld Abu Dhabi to study the results of the initiative, and unearthed fascinating findings.

“The development of young minds can be greatly enhanced by educational environments that include emotional engagement and sensory experiences. This approach stimulates multiple pathways in the brain, making learning more impactful and memorable for children,” she explains. “SeaWorld Abu Dhabi exemplifies this through its multisensory experiences, which offer a dynamic platform for meaningful learning beyond mere entertainment.”

The exhibition can be admired at SeaWorld Abu Dhabi’s One Ocean realm until end October, and enhances the park’s rich program of animal encounters, thrilling rides, and entertainment, along with dining and shopping experiences for all the family.
