It Takes A Village: A Letter From Our Editor | Harper’s Bazaar Arabia Junior Autumn/Winter 2024
Harper’s Bazaar Arabia Junior Editor Natasha Faruque is on a non stop crash course on motherhood
You are constantly learning on the job. That’s what I have learned about motherhood. Just as you feel like you’ve mastered a stage, they navigate towards a new one (Bottles! Teething! Weaning! Walking! Or like my five-year-old Talia, so many feelings!) – with all the new dilemmas, traumas and joys the next chapter brings. It’s like the goal posts are constantly being moved. And even if you have multiple little ones, and think you’ve been there, done that and gotten the Loewe T-shirt, you learn that every child comes with their own unique personality.
All this is something that new mama, Nadya Hasan is currently contending with. Except she’s doing it under the constant gaze of social-media fans – while shooting our cover just four months after giving birth. I wish I had The Mummy Concierge on speed dial to help me kit out my home, orchestrate a baby reveal and prepare for our first flight (though private jets rather than Emirates is more her territory). Oh, and Mary Katrantzou to rainbow-print our baby essentials. From stem-cell banking to egg freezing and globe-trotting education plans a lot of expertise is required during the parenthood journey.
There may be no one-size-fits-all roadmap, but luckily there is plenty of nurturing, helpful advice from friends, loved ones and professionals – and this issue of Bazaar Junior definitely contributes to that.
