Liwa Date Festival Set To Commemorate Its 20th Edition
The annual festival returns to Liwa City for an immersive showcase of the treasured fruit in the region
The renowned Liwa Date Festival will mark its 20th edition in Abu Dhabi’s Al Dhafra Region, from July 15 to July 28.
Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Presidential Court, the annual festival has established itself as a cherished tradition in the UAE, and is a celebration of the country’s rich agricultural heritage.
The Liwa Date Festival is both an educational and interactive showcase that not only shines a spotlight on the UAE’s robust date-farming sector, but also provides support for local farmers in the region.
Attendees can look forward to informative lectures and discussions on the latest in date-farming practices, along with knowledge exchange sessions led by experts in the field that promote the production of high quality dates.
There’ll also be a myriad activities on offer, including highly-anticipated competitions with categories such the ‘Best Date Fruit’ and ,‘Best Date Grower’, offering significant prize money to be won. Guests will also get to learn about and taste the different date varieties on display, while kids will be entertained at a dedicated children’s village.
Liwa is renowned for its production of dates, figs, and other fresh produce, with some of Abu Dhabi’s most illustrious restaurants using fruit that hails from the region. The popular showcase is set to host over 70 000 visitors this year – making this a popular cultural phenomenon you don’t want to miss.
