As Ronaldo approaches 38 years of age and Messi is set to turn 37 next year, it is conceivable that their upcoming encounter may be the final face-off before one or both of them retire. This speculation is based on the typical retirement age range for footballers, which falls between 34 and 36 years.

The two footballers have played against each other 36 times before. Their latest encounter also took place in Saudi on January 21, 2023, when Al-Hilal and Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr was defeated 4–5 by Messi’s Paris Saint-Germain.
While fans are eagerly anticipating this potentially final showdown, Ronaldo opened up in an interview with ESPN, and stated that his rivalry with Messi “is gone.” According to him, both players are content, having already “changed the history of football.”
The match is all set to take place in the first week of February 2024 as apart of the Riyadh Season Cup.
