The Club Vista Mare restaurant transports diners to the Mediterranean with its bohemian décor, mouth-watering menu and blissed-out beats, says Editor, Nina Catt
An imaginary voyage to a far-flung destination is what it’s all about when it comes to unwinding on a Friday evening, and that is exactly what Myrra delivers.
Nuzzled on the beach of the Palm Jumeirah’s Club Vista Mare, upon approach, the luminous eatery beams like a magnetic beacon of light with its chic laid-back ambiance, and cool weekend crowd. Its designers hit the nail on the head with the space’s hypnotic appeal, there is no doubt about it.
Inside, the vibe is exactly what you’d expect from stepping into a Mediterranean-inspired dining destination. From its white-washed walls and Cycladic archways, to the blossoming flower installations and spirited sunshine-hued accessories, Myrra hits all the high notes.
The chic design ethos flows into the restaurant’s outdoor space with a floral-bordered terrace, followed by a third dining space on the beach. Decked out in neutral tones and macramé parasols, my dinner dates and I opted for an ocean-side table to kick back and enjoy the evening with our toes dipped into the sand.
Celebrating an exquisite mix of Greek and Spanish dishes, Myrra’s menu is bountiful (and there’s a separate vegan menu for plant-based palettes). More of a ritual than a meal, dinner here is designed to be shared with colourful plates that appeal to all of the senses.
Paying homage to its Mediterranean roots, we gladly allowed the chefs to guide us on a culinary journey, indulging in signature dishes including the tomato carpaccio, padrón peppers, crispy calamari and aubergine ladenia flatbread to start, followed by a feast of josper-grilled cauliflower, moussaka and seafood paella fideua.
Skilfully combining Greece and Spain’s heritages, the result is a modern menu with an emphasis on fine ingredients and a flamboyant cocktail menu to match.
Arrive at sunset to enjoy the glorious Arabian sky change from orange to pink as the sun dips into the ocean and the stars come out to play. A picture-perfect Friday night, indeed.
