Team Bahrain swimmer Amani Al-Obaidly has set a new best personal record at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Having competed in the women’s 100m backstroke heats today, the young Olympian beat out her best time and set a new national record — no small feat. Breaking barriers and setting new standards in the region for competitive swimming, all eyes are clearly on Amani.

Paris 2024 is Her First Olympic Games.
The 18-year-old swimming sensation competed in the women’s 100 metre backstroke heats at the 15,220-capacity Paris La Defense Arena, beating out her personal best time of 1:04.76, which she set at the Hancock Championships in Australia.

Al Obaidli will be racing in the second of five heats in the 100m backstroke’s opening round proudly representing her country; the 16 fastest in this stage will move on to the semi-finals, which will be held later this evening.
She started swimming at school...
