It was a night full of tears of joy for Chelsea Manalo as she was crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2024 on May 22.
The 24-year-old Filipino-American beauty, decked out in a figure-hugging white gown with feather detailing, instantly became a fan favourite after she embraced her mother, Contessa, onstage after being declared the winner.
Nicknamed the Bulacan Barbie, she competed against 52 other candidates at the Mall of Asia Arena during what was described as one of the fiercest editions of the Miss Universe Philippines. Stacey Gabriel was named the first runner-up.
The win makes her the official representative for the country during the 73rd Miss Universe pageant, set to take place in Mexico this year.

She’s From Central Philippines.
She hails from the city of Meycauayan in the province of Bulacan, located in the central Luzon region, which she proudly represented during the competition.
Taking to Instagram, she recently posted a picture of herself adorning an intricately embellished gold-hued traditional Bulacan outfit.
She’s Half American.
According to reports, the 24-year-old is American from her father’s side, who recently passed away. Chelsea was raised by her mother and step-father in her home province.
She started modelling at a young age.
She started her modelling career while she was still enrolled in high school at the age of 14. According to her Miss Universe Philippines profile, credits British supermodel Naomi Campbell as her inspiration. Currently, Chelsea has collaborated with a number of cosmetics, jewellery and clothing brands.
She’s a seasoned beauty queen.
Prior to her participation in Miss Universe Philippines, she also took part in the Miss World Philippines 2017 pageant.
