Meet Dubai’s Real Housewives of TikTok

A flashy new wave of female creators believe there’s no shame in being a millionaire’s wife

Dubai is known opulent offerings and high-end lifestyles. Expats flock to the Emirate in search of what some might consider an unattainable reality: luxury shopping sprees, multi-million-dirham mansions, expensive sports cars, world class dining options, and everything else under the sun one could possibly fathom.

For a fortunate few, these dreams have become reality, as they’ve managed to achieve a life of uber-indulgence. In fact, these are ladies who have married into money, and are unapologetic about their role as a self-proclaimed ‘millionaire’s wife’.

Currently a burgeoning – and often polarising – segment on TikTok, these Dubai housewives have now transitioned into fully-fledged content creators, giving their followers a first-hand account into their lavish day-to-day lives.

Characterised by excess and a cavalier persona, their content not only inspires and delights but draws much criticism for flaunting their ostentatious wealth.

While some find it aspirational, others take offense – but with each comment, like, share, and view, Dubai-based housewives on the platform are driving considerable engagement, only growing more popular and notorious by the day.

In honour of these lavish female figures, Bazaar Arabia has coined the phrase “Real Housewives of TikTok” – and reached out to a few of them to answer some of your most burning questions.

Are they truly that wealthy? Is it a parody? Are they trolling us just for views? We’ve got all the insider information you’re eager to know below.

Married to millionaire Jamal Al Nadak from Dubai, British-born Soudi Peat believes she was one of the first creators to tap into the “rich stay-at-home wife in Dubai” persona. Now a trusted source on luxury food, fashion, and beauty – albeit not always relatable – Soudi believes people enjoy living vicariously through her videos.

“I think people find my marriage dynamic fascinating, which is why I have been able to grow on TikTok and social media generally,” she tells Bazaar Arabia. “People tend to think the lives of Dubai wives are quite hidden and mysterious, so I like to share my extravagant lifestyle and all of the fun things we get up to. A lot of people see it as escapism in a wild way. Some people who will never be able to travel or shop the way I do, get to live it through me.”

When questioned on whether or not there’s a satorial tone to her content; Soudi claims there isn’t – she simply enjoys showing appreciation for her husband. “I love how Arab men spoil their wives and my posts are just in appreciation of how he treats and provides for me. His strong masculine energy allows me to tap into my own feminine energy which I think every woman deserves in their own way. Jamal is naturally a provider and I’m happy to be provided for. This was the life I manifested, and although I have always come from old money, I enjoy sharing how much I’ve spent, what I’ve spent it on, and weather it was worth it or not,” she says.

Dubai-based British content creator, Malaikah Raja, consciously leaned in to the persona of being a ‘housewife’. After going viral for a video featuring herself and her husband in his Lamborghini Huracan, Malaikah was encouraged to share more glimpses into her life. She took the opportunity to showcase her luxurious honeymoon in the Maldives, along with her daily routine, spending habits, and upscale dining destinations the couple love to explore.

While Malaikah began building up a platform for her glamorous content, her videos served a much deeper purpose in her life. “After the birth of my baby boy, I found myself unexpectedly embracing the role of a housewife,” she tells Bazaar Arabia

“I started watching videos of housewives from various parts of the world and soon realised that being a housewife in Dubai was a unique experience.”

“To channel my creativity and express myself, I decided to create content as a ‘Dubai Housewife’. This endeavour served as a creative outlet where I could share my passions and connect with like-minded individuals. It gave me a sense of purpose beyond just being a mother. The Housewife series became a motivating factor for me to overcome my postpartum blues,” she reveals.

Moreover, Malaikah believes her content is not only beneficial to her but to women from all walks of life. “Through my experiences and stories, I aim to empower other women and mothers to pursue their dreams and live the life they truly deserve. I want to break barriers and show that regardless of our backgrounds or circumstances, we all have the potential to achieve greatness and create a life that aligns with our aspirations,” she says.

Known as The Real Stay At Home Daughter, Roma Abdesselam jets between New York and Dubai, always carrying with her a flair for luxury fashion, indulgent beauty treatments, and her signature wit and self-depreciating humour. While she’s not technically a housewife, she falls into a category of her own – a stay-at-home daughter – showing us the highs and lows of a young woman navigating a fast-paced life, the struggles of dating, and of course, her flamboyant spending habits.

While Roma didn’t initially intend on cultivating a ‘stay-at-home daughter’ persona, it’s something she truly leaned into when she realised she could make people laugh. “The first video I posted went viral,” she says. “And after that, I continued making videos and sure enough, it became satirical.”

“But when I realised I was making a difference; that I was bringing actual joy and happiness to other women, and inspiring them, that’s when I really loved doing it. That’s when I went full throttle and completely embodied the character,” she recalls.

While many of her followers are in on the joke, others are not yet familiar with her content, often sparking debate and a slew of appalled commentary. However, Roma says the negativity drives her. “I honestly love it. I love the negativity. I love people going back and forth. For me, it’s more engagement on my video,” she reveals.

And while her content may be satirical, her lifestyle surely isn’t, as she reveals her daily routine is truly as glamorous as she portrays. “I want to lie to you and say that it’s not but it truly is. I wake up in the morning and go to Pilates. I go to Dubai Mall. I go have lunch with my friend. It really is what you see in my videos. But of course, I only show you the good parts,” she says.
