Five Things You Didn’t Know About Priyanka Chopra

Think you know everything there is to know about the Bollywood beauty? Think again…

Known as one of the industry’s most prolific actresses, with her always on-point style, spectacular acting skills and incredible singing talent, there’s no doubt why Priyanka Chopra is one of our favourites. Here Bazaar Arabia shares five things you didn’t know about the popular actress.

1. She’s a former Miss World pageant winner

Priyanka began her career in the spotlight at 18 years old when she competed in the Miss World pageant. She was crowned the winner in 2000 – the fifth Miss India to do so – and has been mesmerising the world with her enchanting aura ever since.

2. She grew up in Jamshedpur, India

While she now resides in a beautiful $6.5 million Beverley Hills mansion with husband Nick Jonas, the former BAZAAR cover star was born in Jamshedpur, India. Her parents were physicians in the Indian army, meaning she travelled the world with her family during her childhood. She even completed a portion of her high school education at the Army Public School in Bareilly.

3. She is the first Indian-born actress to lead an American prime-time network show in television history

As one of India’s biggest movie stars, Chopra was extremely famous well before her Hollywood days. Her starring role on Quantico made her the first Indian-born actress to lead an American prime-time network show in television history. Previously she acted in over 60 Bollywood films.

4. She owns her own production company

Priyanka launched Purple Pebble Productions alongside her mother, Dr. Madhu Chopra, after being in the business for many years. The company has produced movies such as Ventilator which won three National Awards in India, with the site saying that Priyanka “aims to bridge the gap between emerging-talent and the myriad opportunities that the world of entertainment has to offer.”

5. Her relationship with Nick Jonas began via text

The star revealed in an interview that it was Nick who sent the first message, following a text sent to her Quantico costar Graham Rogers simply stating: “Priyanka. Is. Wow.” The relationship quickly blossomed to Twitter direct messages, with the lovestruck singer messaging: “I’m hearing from a few mutual friends that we should meet.” The rest, as they say, is history.
