Who is Bobby Seagull, From Indian Matchmaking Season 3?
Indian Matchmaking has just returned for a new season, with Sima Aunty once again travelling around the world to help young Indians find their true romantic match. This season, we visit the Indian community in London for the first time, known for having one of the largest South Asian communities in the world. Sima Aunty introduces us to Priya, Vim, and fan favourite, Bobby Seagull.
The British-Indian maths teacher, also known as “Bobby Energy”, lit up everyone’s hearts with his infectious smiles, and positive attitude. While Priya was not ready to continue her relationship with Bobby, fans all around the world want to know more about the charming contestant.
Who is Bobby Seagull, From Indian Matchmaking Season 3?
He is a maths teacher at Little Ilford School
Situated in the London Borough of Newham, Bobby Seagull teaches secondary school students mathematics. Hearing first-hand from his students on the show, he seems to be in the running for teacher of the year!
He graduated from both Oxford and Cambridge University
According to his LinkedIn profile, after graduating from Eton College, Bobby Seagull completed his undergraduate degree in Mathematics at the prestigious Oxford University. He is also a part of the Lady Margaret Hall college at the university. He later attended Royal Holloway, University of London, and went to achieve a doctoral degree in Mathematics from Cambridge University. While at Cambridge, Bobby was team captain for Emmanuel College winning a number of impressive victories.
He is a former Equities Trader at Lehman Brothers
Before becoming a maths teacher, Bobby Seagull worked as an Equities Trader at the London office of well-known bank Lehman Brothers between 2006-2008, first as an intern in Collatorised Debt Obligations, and later full-time in the European Equities market. In an interview with GQ, Seagull explains what it was like to experience the 2008 financial crisis from inside one of the collapsing banks, saying “in the summer, June, July of 2008, Lehman stopped stocking up the stationery cupboard. And I was aware and thinking is this the leading indicator that something’s going amiss here?”
He is a published author
Bobby Seagull is a two-time published author, with his most recent book The Life-Changing Magic of Numbers, showing maths everywhere from music, sport, cooking and even unexpected things like dating.
He is a BBC presenter
A long time BBC presenter, Bobby Seagull has appeared on everything from TV to radio shows for the channel. He has also appeared on the after-show special of The Apprentice series to discuss contestants’ decisions from a maths point of view.
He was ranked #33 in Top Online UK Influencers: Accountancy 2022
Recognising UK individuals using social media in accountancy, Bobby Seagull was honoured with the title for using his platform to explain money, economics & finance in a simplified way.
He has been on another popular reality show
Bobby Seagull was previously a contestant on the UK reality show The Real Dirty Dancing in 2022. The show involves eight celebrities fully immersing themselves in the ultimate Dirty Dancing experience where stars partner up and attempt to re-create classic scenes from the original movie.
