Who is Michelle Dee, the new Miss Universe Philippines 2023? Bazaar Arabia shares a few facts about the young woman from Makati who was crowned this past weekend.
There are few nations around the world who take pageants as seriously as the Philippines. Filipinos love the glitz and glamour that comes along with the hunt for the most talented and beautiful young woman who will represent the entire nation on the international stage. Miss Universe Philippines is more than just a pretty face, she’s an ambassador and an example of excellence in all aspects of life, a source of hope and optimism for the country.
And Michelle Dee has big plans to carry on that legacy, having won the Miss Universe Philippines pageant this past weekend.
Representing Makati, Michelle beat out fellow contestants, truly shining her brightest when asked about her take on nation’s new tourism branding campaign’s slogan, “We give the world our best.”
“I firmly believe that the best natural resource that the Philippines is us Filipinos,
she answered. “We are the true heart and soul of the Philippines with the way we are hospitable, with the warm smiles… And we are the reason why the world keeps coming back for more. No matter where the universe takes me, I’ll always be proud to call the Philppines my home. And no matter what happens I will always be proud to call myself Pinoy.”
Who is Michelle Dee, The New Miss Universe Philippines 2023?
Michelle Dee, a 28-year-old actress and model, was crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2023 on May 13, 2023. She will go on to represent the Philippines at the Miss Universe 2023 pageant, which will be held in El Salvador later this year.
The daughter of former Miss International Melanie Marquez, Michelle is a graduate of De La Salle University, having graduated with a degree in psychology before going on to complete a certificate programme in entrepreneurship at the Harvard Business School. In addition to her academic accomplishments, Michelle also worked as an actress and model since she was a teenager, having appeared in several films and series.
Michelle is passionate about using her platform to advocate for women’s empowerment and education, along with a variety of other causes. She’s also the second Filipina to win the Miss Universe Philippines and Miss World Philippines, after Catriona Gray.

She was born in Makati, but led an international lifestyle growing up…
While she may have grown up in the heart of Metro Manila, Michelle reportedly spent quite a lot of time at her family’s ranch in Utah during summer vacations and holidays.
She’s a free diver.
Never one to shy away from adventure, Michelle keeps an active lifestyle and clearly enjoys the tranquility that comes with spending time underwater; about a year ago the new Miss Universe Philippines 2023 shared an image of herself free diving with friend Max Collins, at Flower Island Resort, in Palawan (shot by underwater photographer and cinematographer Boogs Rosales.)
She’s an accomplished model.

Family is everything to her.
Coming from such a large family (Michelle has one sibling, a sister named Maxine, and four half-siblings: Miguelito, Mazen, Adam Jr., and Abraham), it’s clear Michelle relies on them for support — especially Mum Melanie Marquez, a former actor, model and beauty queen who won Miss International 1979.
