On February 22, 2023, the Saudi royal, philanthropist, and Secretary General of Alwaleed Philanthropies was reappointed as the UN Human Settlements Program’s (UN-Habitat) Goodwill Ambassador for the Arab World.
The appointment occurred on Monday at the UN headquarters in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. HRH Princess Lamia bint Majed signed the extension of her term; Her Royal Highness reaffirmed her commitment to the UN-Habitats mission.

According to Arab News, Her Royal Highness mentioned, “We worked in the last couple of years with UN-Habitat in different countries. So, we worked in Syria, we worked in Sudan, Iraq, Palestine; we did thousands of units, we helped thousands of families, and this is what makes me sleep well at night,” adding, “I hope inshallah, with this appointment, I’ll be able to help from a philanthropic perspective and with the United Nations, as well.”
