Kate Middleton Just Wore A Glittery Red Dress At Last Night’s Buckingham Palace Reception

Proving sequins aren’t just for the holiday season

It’s been a hectic few weeks for the British royal family, but last night’s Buckingham Palace reception saw a cause for celebration.

Prince William hosted his first solo reception on behalf of Queen Elizabeth yesterday evening, held in honor of the UK-Africa Investment Summit. The Duke was accompanied by his wife, Kate Middleton, who stole the show wearing a stunning sequinned red dress by Needle and Thread, with her signature brunette curls on full display.

The Duchess completed her one-tone ensemble with a pair of Gianvito Rossi suede pumps and a matching sleek red clutch.

At the reception, Prince William expressed his love of Africa, sweetly noting that, “the African continent holds a very special place in my heart… it is the place my father took my brother and me shortly after our mother died. And when deciding where best to propose to Catherine, I could think of no more fitting place than Kenya to get down on one knee.”

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were joined by Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, who was also celebrating her birthday on the evening.

Last night’s reception follows a dramatic weekend of royal events as Meghan Markle and Prince Harry prepare to step down as senior royals.

Buckingham Palace only recently reached an agreement regarding the couple’s future, wherein it was revealed that the pair were no longer entitled to use their HRH titles as they “are no longer working members of the Royal Family.”
