It's been a hectic few weeks for the British royal family, but last night's Buckingham Palace reception saw a cause for celebration.
Prince William hosted his first solo reception on behalf of Queen Elizabeth yesterday evening, held in honor of the UK-Africa Investment Summit. The Duke was accompanied by his wife, Kate Middleton, who stole the show wearing a stunning sequinned red dress by Needle and Thread, with her signature brunette curls on full display.
At the reception, Prince William expressed his love of Africa, sweetly noting that, "the African continent holds a very special place in my heart... it is the place my father took my brother and me shortly after our mother died. And when deciding where best to propose to Catherine, I could think of no more fitting place than Kenya to get down on one knee."
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were joined by Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, who was also celebrating her birthday on the evening.
