Match Made In Heaven: Inside the Wedding of Prince Ludwig of Bavaria and Sophie-Alexandra Eveknik

Here at Bazaar Arabia, we firmly believe that there’s no such thing as too many royal weddings. Following the nuptials of Princess Iman of Jordan to Jameel Thermiotis, another royal family celebrated the union of a Prince to his sweetheart this past weekend.

On Saturday Prince Ludwig of Bavaria wed Sophie-Alexandra Eveknik at the Theatinerkirche Church in Munich; guests gathered to witness the couple proclaim their love and devotion to one and other, before retreating to Nymphenburg Palace to celebrate.

The Bride wore a dress designed by Lebanese American brand Reem Arca and the groom looked smart in his tuxedo.

Who is Prince Ludwig of Bavaria?

Prince Ludwig, the son of Prince Luitpold, is a great-great-grandson of the last king of Bavaria. He grew up at Schloss Kaltenberg and attended the Rhabanus-Maurus-Gymnasium St. Ottilien, a Grammar School, in Ereising. Having once been dubbed one of the most eligible bachlors in the aristocratic circuit, his heart now officially belongs to Sophie-Alexandra, an Oxford university PhD candidate.

As is customary in Bavarian weddings, Princess Sophie wore the Bavarian sapphire floral tiara. This floral tiara is a treasured royal heirloom, renowned for its beauty and the stories it carries. She also opted for a veil by Ukranian designer, WONÁ Concept, which incorporated hidden Dutch and Bavarian emblems into its design..

Both the Prince and Princess of Bavaria share a passion for the environment and a dedication to preserving the planet – something which was reflected throughout the celebrations. The couple requested that donations be made to various humanitarian initiatives in lieu of accepting presents.

Though Sophie looked incredibly beautiful and her prince exceedingly dashing, one particular sweet treat snagged a supporting role in the nuptials: the wedding cake.

Created by Michelin-star chef Jan Hartwig, the decadent hateaux took inspiration from Prince Regent cake, a traditional Bavarian dessert made up of layers eight layers of sponge originally crafted in celebration of a great-great-grandfather Prince Luitpold.
