Congratulations are in order for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex!
The happy couple who revealed the details of their pregnancy during their tell-all interview with Oprah last March, have welcomed their second child – a baby girl named Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, in honour to Harry’s beloved grandmother, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of England, and his late mother Diana, Princess of Wales.
“Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet. Her middle name, Diana was chosen to honour her beloved late grandmother, The Princess of Wales,” the couple shared.
The newest member of the family was born last Friday at the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, California; the couple announced on a statement released later this Sunday on Archewell, the Duke and Duchess’ organisation’s website.
“On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili. She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe. Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family.”
The new parents announced their second pregnancy news via a spokesperson of confidence later this February. The couple shared they were expecting a baby daughter during their tell-all interview with Oprah last March, breaking traditional royal convention where the baby’s gender isn’t normally revealed until birth.
Prince Harry and Meghan are already parents to two-year-old Archie, who was born in the UK in 2019.
Just like her brother, little Lili won’t be holding any royal titles.
No pictures have been revealed as of yet, but we’re sure baby Lili will be as cute as baby Archie was when he was born! Stay tuned for more updates on the new royal baby…
