Queen Camilla Now Has Her Own Barbie Doll – And The Internet Isn’t Happy About It

Presented to the queen consort during an event celebrating International Women’s Day, social media users did not react well to the figurine

Queen Camilla is the newest Barbie girl – and people are not happy about it.
During a Women of the World (WOW) reception at Buckingham Palace, the 75-year-old, was presented with a one-of-a-kind doll that looks exactly like her.

The figurine also sported a replica of the same dress she was wearing at the event, a blue Fiona Clare dress paired with an Amanda Wakeley coat.

“Thank you very, very much indeed. It’s brilliant,” Queen Camilla was quoted as saying. “You’ve taken about 50 years off my life,” she joked. She added, “We should all have a Barbie!”

Soon after, pictures of the doll circulated online and the internet broke out in criticism. Barbie manufacturer, Mattel, posted images of it on their Instagram, @barbie, and comments came pouring in.

@hayden_williams, an Instagrammer, wrote: “One of those few instances where I’m glad this is one of a kind.”

Another user, @samsyndullam, said: “How about we delete this and work on a Princess Diana tribute doll with any of her beautiful fashion? An actual hero that little girls can look up to. Or even a Queen Elizabeth doll in her younger days. It’s not April 1st yet, so I don’t really get the joke.”

Similar thoughts lined the comment section of the post.

The late Diana, Princess of Wales, the former wife of King Charles III, whom the queen consort is married to, has often been referred to as the People’s Princess and was mentioned in several of the comments.

The two women are often compared, as their stories intertwined through their relationships with the King. Diana’s widely praised charm and humanitarian endeavors stand in contrast to the initial controversy surrounding the now queen consort’s affair with King Charles, despite her efforts to rehabilitate her image through charitable work and a more visible role within the royal family.

Queen Camilla isn’t the first royal to be transformed into a doll form.

In April 2022 Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her 96th birthday and Platinum Jubilee – and received a Barbie of her own.

The doll was inspired by one of her most iconic looks, in which she wore an elegant ivory gown and blue ribbon adorned with decorations of order. The doll was also completed with a tiara, similar to the one Queen Elizabeth II wore for her wedding to Prince Philip.
