As the novel Coronavirus continues to spread across Europe, it is understood that the virus has managed to reach Buckingham Palace, impacting a royal aide whilst Queen Elizabeth was still in residence.
According to The Sun, the Queen, 93, and Prince Phillip, 98, were moved out of Buckingham Palace and into Windsor Castle last week when a member of the Palace staff fell ill and tested positive for Coronavirus. “She is in good health but it was thought best to move her,” confirmed a royal source. Both of the senior royals are being monitored and quarantined at Windsor Castle until the pandemic subsides whilst the staffer and all those within the Royal Household who had come in contact with the infected party have been placed in self-isolation.
In their 90’s both the Queen and Prince Phillip fall into the demographic that is considered most susceptible to severe complications from COVID-19 therefore it is imperative that extra precautions be taken to ensure the safety of their health and those around them.
“The Queen has met a lot of people there until recently,” added the source. “But she is weeks away from her 94th birthday and advisers believe it is best to get her out of harm’s way.”
