Vacation season is officially upon us…
With temperatures on the rise and summer months in full swing, people are taking the opportunity to head off to coastal cities, beach-side vacation homes, the more idyllic countryside or – to beat the heat rather than embracing it – cooler locations where the weather is more merciful. And, of course, the royal families around the world are no different.
The summer break for schools and universities is bringing many royal families together, where many they have been spotted spending quality time with each other and enjoying a breather from their royal duties.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum and Family Beat The Dubai Heat By Summering in The UK
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and Sheikh Hamdan, Crown Prince of Dubai, appear to be spending time in London, escaping the sweltering GCC summers for cooler pastures.
In a series of posts shared on his personal Instagram page, Sheikh Hamdan gives his followers a glimpse into the family holiday.
Sheikh Hamdan even opted to get around The Big Smoke via the Underground, while spending some down time at the stables with his F3 racing horses.
Spanish Royal Family: King Felipe, Queen Letizia, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia Take Palma By Storm
The Spanish Royal family are holidaying in Palma De Mallorca on the Balearic Islands. They have been regularly spotted taking strolls into the historic city and going on shopping trips. The island capital, located in the South of Spain, is the home of Almudaina Palace, the official summer residence of the family and welcomes them every year for a long vacation.
As always, Queen Letizia has been hitting all the right marks style wise, donning chic striped shorts and espadrilles on the family’s latest appearance on the city streets. Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia wore breezy summer dresses in bright colours and summer-y prints.
The British Royal Family: Queen Elizabeth II Summers in Scotland
The British Monarch travelled to Balmoral, Scotland, in late July for her annual visit to the Aberdeenshire castle where she stays August through October for her summer vacation. The Balmoral Estate has served as the Royal Family’s vacation retreat for 150 years now and closes to the public annually to welcome the Queen, her children and her great-grandchildren.
As part of family tradiiton other members of the British royal family including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, along with their children, are also invited to spend the summer at the castle.
Danish Royal Family: Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark, Crown Princess Mary of Denmark and Family Relax in Skagen
The Danish Crown Prince and his family also chose to soak up the sun in the countryside, vacationing at their summer residence in Skagen which is the northernmost town of the country and is located on the east coast of the Skagen Odde peninsula. The holiday home sits right by the beach and the family has been spotted swimming in the ocean and enjoying the warm weather.
They were also pictured at a reunion of the Danish Royal Family at the Gråsten Castle in photographs released by the family.
