Born in November 1991, His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani is the youngest son of the former Emir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, and Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser.
The 32-year-old GCC royal grew up in the country’s most populous city, Doha, where he received his early education before leaving for the US to pursue further studies.

He’s active on Instagram
On Instagram, where the Qatari royal goes by the nickname ‘KHK’, the initials of his name, he has over 1 million followers.
While he hasn’t been active on the platform since December 2022, the Qatari royal has a plethora of fan accounts, praising his unwavering support and dedication to the ruling family of the GCC state.
He Has A Bachelor’s And Master’s Degree
His Excellency graduated with a Public Policy degree in 2015, from the University of Southern California in the US.
He also obtained a master’s degree in Public Diplomacy from the same university in 2017.
He Joined The Internal Security Force After Graduating University
In 2015, His Excellency joined the Internal Security Force, known as ‘Lekhwiya’, where he was awarded first place with “Excellence” in the officer induction course, according to the Government Communications Office of Qatar.
He then joined ‘Lifdawiya’ with the rank of an Officer, a special unit, which operated under Lekhwiya.
The following year, from 2015 to 2018, His Excellency was involved in Qatar’s defence services. He participated in approximately 13 military training courses held in Qatar, the US, and France.
During the exercises he learnt in the military, he was trained in combating terrorism, sniping, urban combat, discarding and disposal of explosives, problem-solving strategies, freefall parachuting, riot control and more.
He is Regularly Seen Carrying Out His Duties
Currently, Sheikh Khalifa is often seen in public carrying out his official duties.
In 2020, His Excellency was appointed as a member of the National Security Council, and a member of the Steering Committee of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (known as the SC).
He was also appointed as a member of the supervisory committee for the first Shura Council elections, which took place in 2021. During the same year, he led the operations of the FIFA Arab Cup and the Formula 1 World Championship.
In March 2023, Sheikh Khalifa was appointed Qatar’s Minister of Interior.
He Enjoys Fishing
Like many royals from the region, Sheikh Khalifa enjoys taking a fishing trip to wind down.
He shares pictures from his excursions into the sea on his Instagram page, showing off the big catches of the day.
He Likes Exploring the World
His love for exploring the world is evident from his social media posts as well.
From playing volleyball in London’s Hyde Park to skiing in the French Alps, he chronicles his adventures on his Instagram account when travelling the world.
