The Cambridges Visit Three Organisations For Mental Health Awareness Week

Travelling to Wolverhampton, the couple participated in a series of activities with young people

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge stepped out this week to promote a cause they care deeply about: mental health awareness.

William and Kate travelled to Wolverhampton, where they marked Mental Health Awareness Week with visits to three organisations dedicated to supporting the mental health and well-being of children and young people.

The Duchess of Cambridge wore a navy blouse with white polka dots paired with a co-ordinating blazer for the outing. William also wore the dark hue, opting for a navy blue sweater under a matching jacket.

The pair participated in a range of activities with young people throughout the day. One such activity was playing a round of table tennis during their first engagement at The Way Youth Zone, an organisation that helps young people transform their lives by providing opportunities for them to participate in positive activities and by offering a safe space and people to talk to if they need support.

During their visit at The Way, the royals also participated in wellbeing sessions with some of the young people who benefit from the organisation’s services, and connected with a group of ambassadors for HeadStart, a program designed to improve the resilience and emotional wellbeing of children and young people.

Next, William and Kate visited Base25, a charity that specialises in supporting young people who have difficulties accessing mainstream services. The organisation offers family counselling and a daily drop-in centre, where young people can take advantage of a range of services from computer access and group activities to career advice and crisis support.

Finally, the duke and duchess visited HugglePets in the Community, a non-profit that uses Animal Assisted Therapy to work with children who have special educational needs and mental health challenges. William and Kate joined primary school children for an Animal Assisted Intervention program and later visited the organisation’s Sensory Activity Centre and Community Aquarium.

Next, the royals will participate in voicing this year’s Mental Health Minute (a 60-second message that will be simulcast across more than 500 radio stations in the United Kingdom) in support of Shout 85258, which provides countrywide free mental health support via text.
