The Duke And Duchess Of Sussex Will Likely Be Unable To Keep The ‘Sussex Royal’ Brand
The couple had invested heavily on the brand with the intention of utilising it in their future endeavours
Following news of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s decision to “step back” as senior members of the royal family, there has been a lot of speculation regarding whether or not the Sussexes will be able to move ahead with their plans using the ‘Sussex Royal’ brand name.
According to the latest updates, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will most likely not be able to proceed with keeping the word royal within their official brand name. A royal source told BAZAAR.com, “As the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are stepping back as senior members of the royal family and will work towards financial independence, use of the word ‘royal,’ in this context, needed to be reviewed and discussions are still ongoing. As part of the process to transition the Duke and Duchess of Sussex into their new chapter—planning has been well underway around the launch of their new non-profit organization. Details will be shared in due course.”
Re-branding themselves was evidently not a part of Meghan and Harry’s plans. The couple’s official Instagram account, aptly named SussexRoyal, has amassed over 11.2 million followers and the couple went ahead to register their official website under the same domain name; investing heavily within the development of both platforms. We have yet to receive official updates on the Sussexes brand terminology from the royal family and both their Instagram handle and website still bear the Sussex Royal trademark but there is confirmation of discussions being underway on how Meghan and Harry will continue working with the royal family in their financially independent new life in Canada.
