The Diana Awards for Creativity, Humanity and Mental Health Has Launched in Oman

The highly prestigious event took place on May 8 at the National Museum Oman, featuring experts in the region

With mental health awareness month underway, there’s no better moment to introduce the Diana Awards for Creativity, Humanity, and Mental Health that took place on Sunday, May 8, at the National Museum Oman. Held under the patronage of Her Highness Sayyida Basma Al Sayyid, an advocate for mental health and founder of the Not Alone Campaign and Whispers of Serenity Clinic, the first private mental health clinic in Muscat, the event aimed to inspire and recognise the next generation in the country as change-makers that will work towards creating an impact in their community.

The two guest speakers included: Tessy Ojo, CBE, FRSA, CEO of the Diana Award Charity, and Dr. Yvonne Thompson, CBE, FRSA, Founder and President of WinTrade Global Women, renowned for her work in entrepreneurship, global diversity, and equality, for which Queen Elizabeth II appointed her as the Deputy Lieutenant in Greater London.

Both guests of honour touched upon their inspiring experiences and wisdom with the attendees at the prestigious event. In addition, HH Sayyida Basma was awarded a position as a judge by Ms.Tessy for being the first Arab to take part in the only charity created in memory of Princess Diana, indeed a big moment for the region.

Key takeaways from the event include a special development program given to all Diana awardees that will support and encourage innovation and leadership and promote social change through access to resources, opportunities, and training.

In partnership with the Oman post, the team will also be launching new mail stamps highlighting mental health awareness and promoting writing letters to loved ones to ease loneliness.
