The Ones To Watch: What To Shop and Who To Follow This June 2023
A.I. lands in the desert, another ’90s classic makes a comeback and the waiting list you need to be on…
Strike a Chord
We’ve seen it all when it comes to ’90s fashion, but the one thing we didn’t realize we were waiting for was the resurgence of rope necklaces finished with weird and wonderful shaped pendants. Jacquemus spiral, anyone?

Over the Moon
Rahul Mishra, the first Indian designer to present on the official Paris Couture Week schedule, delved into the galaxies and beyond with his Cosmos collection of outstanding, intricately embroidered designs of stardust, planets, along with
fins, waves and jellyfish – worked on by over 1,000 artisans from craft communities all over India. “Obviously the cosmos is very vast, and the first thing that came to mind was going interstellar,” explains the Indian designer who has dressed Zendaya and Gigi Hadid. “But what I wanted to do is look down below and look at the seas.” We suspect this is only the beginning for Rahul and his Parisian adventures.

Air Time
Inflatable, conceptual art created by artist Alex Olszewska has been blowing up, quite literally, all over the Middle East. There have been air-filled mosque-shaped structures and majlis in AlUla in Saudi during Ramadan, enormous camels and palm trees sprouting up in the Dubai desert and many more weird and wacky creations crafted by Alex’s company. Future Bedouin offers an immersive experience celebrating the region and its many cultures.

Straight outta Oz
Don’t you just secretly love it when no one has heard of the brand you’re wearing? That usually happens when you buy from the fashion gods Down Under. The likes of Australian born and bred Zimmermann may have become a fashion girl’s name-to-know but there are so many more undiscovered gems coming out of Oz. One for summer is Boteh – meaning ‘paisley’ in Persian – a nostalgic swim and resortwear brand created by designer Amelia Mather who has racked up 20 years in the Australian fashion industry. Fluid cuts and a considered production line, these are delicious prints you’ll wear all summer long.

Hit the Right Notes
Hamilton is a theatrical phenomenon that has broken records left, right and centre since it premiered in New York City in 2015. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize and 11 gongs at the 2016 Tony Awards, the rap musical about one of American Founding Fathers Alexander Hamilton will come to Abu Dhabi next January. The waiting list is now open so don’t hesitate to grab a ticket for what will be the show of 2024.
