The Ones to Watch: What To Shop, Read, And Look Out For This July/August
The summer slowdown is here and we are paring back to the best with investment furniture, demi-fine jewellery and Kate Moss’ vintage go-to
Bare Essentials
The skinimalism movement is all about stripping back your skincare routine, using only the ‘super basics’: hardworking, all-rounder products like Sunday Riley’s CEO Vitamin C Rich Hydration Cream. It contains hero ingredients such as retinol for anti-ageing, SPF and Vitamin C. Whittling down your regime to two key areas – cleansing and hydration – and relying on the skin itself to do its job of cell turnover, is a sustainable and effective way to maintain your visage without having 18 products cluttering up your sink.

Model Approved
When Kate Moss is looking for a party dress she turns to Annie Doble, a vintage dealer based in London and Ibiza who specialises in iconic finds she has personally sourced. Thanks to a clientele of celebrities, socialites and, of course, supermodels, the 30-year-old Brit has launched her own collection, debuting last February at London Fashion Week with some pieces made from 100 per cent recyclable materials. “The pieces are inspired by forgotten techniques and silhouettes, but still bring that element of fun and glamour inspired by the hedonistic energy of Ibiza,” explains Annie.

Slow Interiors
It’s not rocket science to say that when decorating a space, our furniture choices should be carefully considered as they are something we’re going to live with – quite literally – for years. By purchasing with intention and trend-proofing your home, you’ll naturally end up with a more timeless aesthetic. Firstly, start with buying big investment pieces to anchor a room – these could be a rug, a sofa or a dining table. Enter En Gold, a fossil stone furniture brand that is new to the UAE. Its solid stone designs are produced in modest numbers to support more conscious consumption.

Demi-Fine Jewels
Fancy building out your jewellery box but don’t have the budget for diamonds this month? Demi-fine jewels might be just what you need to stack out your wrists. With pieces usually in lower carats or plated with gold, silver or platinum, they are still considered investment pieces and suggest a subtle hint of affluence as well as an overall polished look.

Cli-Fi
A fictional genre that focuses on the impact of climate change and global warming might not be on the top of your list when you’re picking out your holiday reads this summer, but in The Light Pirate, author Lily Brooks-Dalton delivers a beautiful story of survival and resilience in rapidly changing environment, mirroring the world in which we live.
