As the date nears not only for the Kingdom’s first-ever grand opera production, but also the largest Arabic grand opera ever held in the region — and tickets are now officially on sale.

Saudi Arabia’s Theatre and Performing Arts Commission announced that the opera will take place at King Fahad Cultural Centre in Riyadh. Featuring performances from both international and locally trained artists, Zarqa Al Yamama is set to regale the audience with the story of the blue-eyed legend against the backdrop of pre-Islamic Arabia.

Written by Saudi poet Saleh Zamanan, the opera tells the story of the Zarqa Al Yamama’s exceptional sense of intuition and foresight as she warns her tribe of approaching danger and her struggles along her journey. An enthralling story of adventure paired with mesmerizing music by Australian composer Lee Bradshaw and directed by Swiss theatrical director Daniele Finzi Pascal, the opera is to be a treat for all senses.

The opera will run from the 25th of April till the 4th of May 2024 with show times starting from 8:30pm and a double showing on Saturdays.
