The Ultimate Luxury: An Exclusive First Look at the Maldives’ Largest Private Island

Harper’s Bazaar Arabia is the first to land on Ithaafushi – The Private Island, where we take an insider’s tour of the award-winning Waldorf Astoria Maldives’ new location

The Maldives is all about experiencing the wonder of seclusion with the ones you love, standing on a stunning deserted beach with no one else around, relaxing in an overwater villa with endless views of the turquoise seas, with not another human being in sight. Imagine magnifying that bliss and isolation further? Welcome Ithaafushi – The Private Island, courtesy of Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi.

Taking exclusivity to a new level, Ithaafushi – The Private Island is the largest private island in the Maldives, spanning 32,000 square metres of white sands and tropical greenery in the heart of the stunning seas of the Indian Ocean.

Just a 40-minute boat ride from Male on one of the resort’s six luxury Ithaafushi Princess yachts, of course, or by 15-minute seaplane flight, will transport you to the midst of a paradise that accommodates 24 guests across two elegantly designed villas and one opulent four-bedroom residence.

Guest can take in the tranquility within one of the resorts two-bedroom overwater villas, complete with indoor and outdoor rain showers, a shared living room, infinity pool and jacuzzi, the three-bedroom beach villa with its own beach access and two swimming pools or the four-bedroom residence with two king bedrooms, two queen bedrooms, jacuzzis and stunning common living area, all with direct access to the beach.

The estate’s common living area, Haali, is perfect for celebrations, group dinners or simply for relaxing. It features panoramic ocean views and extends across expansive indoor and outdoor areas, all set within a botanical sanctuary. Entertain family and friends by watching a movie on the cinematic LED screen or bask in the 35-meter infinity pool.

As well as dining options on the private island, guests can grab a speedboat to the main island, where there’s a choice of 10 specialty dining venues, including Terra – an elevated treetop restaurant and The Ledge by Dave Pynt, the culinary mastermind behind Singapore’s Michelin-starred Burnt Ends restaurant.

A plethora of wellness and watersports options are available, from exploring the resort’s magical reefs to sunset fishing trips, wind surfing and kayaking. Take a trip to a private sandbank for a sunset dinner or a personal yoga session with a difference, or stay in the comfort of your own private island for a schedule of visiting world class yoga and mediation practitioners.

Harper’s Bazaar Arabia were the first to step foot on the private island today and we can confirm that this is exclusive luxury like no other.
