A Musical Tribute to Umm Kulthum Is Coming To The Dubai Opera

From May 3 – 5 the Dubai Opera is putting on the musical, Umm Kulthum & The Golden Era.
The story follows the incredible life lead by the late inimitable singer from her childhood on the Egyptian Delta, where she first began singing at local festivals, to her move to Cairo to pursue her dream of becoming a performer and her love affair with poet, Ahmed Rami.
Umm’s songs about love speak to the human condition and her music has connected with millions of people. A tale of strength, determination and hope, the musical promises to be both inspiring and emotional. The music will be performed in its original Arabic with the dialogue in English.
This isn’t the first time the legendary singer has been honoured at the Dubai Opera; back in 2020, a digitised version of Umm Kulthum was brought to life with the magic of hologram technology.
