What is UAE Union Day? Is it a new holiday?
The 52nd UAE Union Day, which was formerly referred to as National Day, aims to bring people together to celebrate the rich history and culture of the Emirates. From this year onwards the day is to be officially referred to as UAE Union Day, with the ceremony taking place on December 2nd at Expo City.
In addition to parades, events, and school involvement, this year’s Union Day will focus on themes of sustainability and innovation, tying into the UAE’s hosting of COP28 from November 30 – December 12.

UAE Union Day encourages all sectors to honour the nation throughout the long weekend in a sustainable manner, including the reusing and recycling old materials into celebratory flags, goods, and props.
This extends to events as well, from parades to home décor.
There will also be a strong emphasis on national gastronomy. The “Homegrown Taste of Dubai” initiative aims to highlight some of the emirate’s most iconic dishes, educating residents and nationals about the rich history of its unique cuisine through workshops and exclusive menus.
